The usual fitness book

  • Covers workouts and nothing else

  • Pushes you to go all-out and ignores recovery
  • Two hard weeks, then an injury or burnout

Operator After 40

  • Body, food, sleep, mind and family in one book, plus the legends of special operations
  • Every chapter opens with a true story from special operations
  • A test graded for your age shows you where to begin
  • Three versions of every exercise, so you train around old injuries

Cadre Walsh, the book's guide
Behind the book

Your guide, Cadre Walsh

The book is told by Cadre Walsh, the Old Man you know from the channel: a retired operator in his mid-fifties.

Every story about a real person, unit or operation is true and comes from published sources, listed at the end of the book.

The book comes from Old Man Cadre, a YouTube channel that takes you inside the world's toughest selection courses and most elite units, with a new documentary every week.

Questions

Asked before buying

Is it just a workout book?

No. Training is one of five parts. The others show how operators eat, sleep and recover, how they stay calm under pressure and lead, and how they plan for their families. The last part takes you through the hardest selection courses on earth, how operators really train, and ten missions that became legend. Each chapter starts from a true story from special operations.

Is a paper book coming in the mail?

No. This is a digital book, a PDF. It opens right after you pay, and you can print it at home if you want paper.

Is this a subscription?

No. You pay once and the book is yours. There are no monthly charges.

What if I lose the file?

Your download link is in your email. If you lose that too, write to us with the address you bought with and we will send it again.

Can I try it before I buy?

Yes. Read the introduction free: the opening pages of the book and the full contents as a PDF, sent to your email. You can also read seven full pages under Look inside.

Do I need a gym or military experience?

No. Nearly everything can be done at home or outdoors with a chair, an old backpack and two water jugs. You need about 30 minutes on most days.

I have old injuries. Can I still do this?

Every exercise has an easier, standard and harder version, and the book has gentler options for men over 50 or managing pain. It is a training guide, not medical advice, so talk to your doctor first, especially with a heart condition, high blood pressure, diabetes or ongoing pain.

What if I don't like it?

Write to us within 7 days and you get your money back.

How do I contact you?

Write to support@oldmancadre.com. We answer every message.
